A Little More on Corey Tauer
While I was interviewing Corey Tauer this week a couple of things came up that I thought were interesting. He has always been ambidextrous.  He had some games during his high school career that he threw both lefty and righty. He told me that Patrick Reusse was coming to do an article on him throwing both ways one time but the game got rained out and so did the article.
Corey has also been known to be a little volatile in has career and had some run-ins with umpires.  While we were talking Corey said that he had reffed basketball and umpired baseball for over six years.  During that time he never once gave a technical foul or kicked anyone out of a ball game.  "I figured if I was going to get my say, I better take it myself," said Tauer.
When I managed the Dukes, Corey was the player that we walked the most.  He was always an excellent hitter, but with the game on the line he was GREAT.  I never wanted to get into a situation where we had to pitch to him if a hit won the game.
The last thing about Corey that I'll never forget is the play he made during a playoff game in 2008.  We had a man on and Brandon Rolloff, our leadoff hitter, was up.  It was a bunt situation, however, Rolloff is 6'3" and was one of our best hitters so I didn't put the bunt on.  Corey was playing third base for the Aces and for some reason Rolloff squared around to bunt.  Corey came racing in and couldn't have been more than 40 feet from the plate when Rolloff brought his bat back and swung all-out.  He hit a line shot that went right at Corey.  Corey brought his glove up and somehow caught it as he fell over backward.  If he hadn't caught that ball it would have hit him in the high chest or maybe even his face.  When he came up with it and had that big grin on his face, everyone in the park was happy to see that he was alive.  That might be the most unbelievable play that I've ever seen.

Fine Tuning New Site Will Take Some Time

The new website of the MBA launched last night (Feb. 12) and there were immediate responses.  By noon on Sunday at least 13 teams had already had their webmasters contact the Da Vinci Software people at http://www.scoremonster.com/.  After you do that go to support@mnbaseball.org to request your MBA team website.  The complete directions are located in the "News" section listed above on the MBA website.

There were a couple of complaints that there isn't as much information on the new site as there was on the old one.  Well, that's why they wanted to launch in February.  There is still plenty of time before the season starts to get all of the information added and the bugs worked out.

The new site will have more information added every day and as more and more teams add their schedules, rosters and other information it will be a site you will want to visit over and over.

If you have some specific comments and/or suggestions you can comment right on this blog.  It won't show up on the website, but I'll be able to see the comments.  To see my Blog go to http://www.bnbaseballguy.blogspot.com/.   I will make sure it gets to the proper place.  My advice to you is get your Free Team Page going ASAP and the site will be better each day.  Good Luck.
